Wilson was a consistent hitmaker from the mid-'50s through the early '70s and an electrifying on-stage showman. He was one of the most important agents of the transition from R&B into soul. Wilson appeared in the film Go, Johnny, Go!, and among his most popular songs are Lonely Teardrops, (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher, and To Be Loved.
