JD Souther was an American singer, songwriter, and actor (1945-2024). He formed the duo Longbranch Pennywhistle with Glenn Frey and was also a member of the supergroup Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. Souther is a key songwriter for the Eagles. He released albums including You're Only Lonely, John David Souther, and Natural History. His most popular songs include You're Only Lonely, New Kid In Town, and Hearts Against the Wind with Linda Ronstadt. Souther also appeared in films such as Always, My Girl 2 with Jamie Lee Curtis, and Purgatory.
