James MacDonald

American foley artist and voice actor

James MacDonald was an American foley artist and voice actor. He succeeded Walt Disney as the voice of Mickey Mouse, voicing the character from 1947 to 1976. Over nearly five decades, MacDonald provided voices and sounds for various Disney characters. He created and assembled one of the largest and most impressive sound effects libraries in motion picture history, notably improvising the sound of rainfall using dried peas in a wooden barrel. MacDonald passed away in 1991.
