Buffy Sainte-Marie

American musician

Buffy Sainte-Marie is an American musician. She released the album It's My Way! in 1964 and Illuminations in 1969. She has also released Medicine Songs, featuring a collaboration with Tanya Tagaq, and Power In the Blood. Some of her most popular songs include Universal Soldier, and It's My Way. Sainte-Marie co-wrote Up Where We Belong from An Officer and a Gentleman, for which she received the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in 1983. She appeared regularly on Sesame Street throughout the late 1970s and in the documentaries Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World and Bachman.
