

Kurt Masur
German conductor (1927-2015)
Kurt Masur was a German conductor. He conducted the London Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig. His recordings began to appear in the West even before German reunification.
Masur conducted and recorded numerous acclaimed works, including Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67 with the New York Philharmonic and Bruch & Mendelssohn: Violin Concertos with Maxim Vengerov and the Gewandhausorchester. He also collaborated with Jessye Norman on Strauss: Four Last Songs; 6 Orchestral Songs with the Gewandhausorchester.
