Ian Gillan is a British rock singer. He joined Deep Purple in 1969 and has also been a member of Black Sabbath. Gillan released Machine Head with Deep Purple, which peaked at No. 1 in the U.K. and was Top 10 in the U.S. He has released several live albums including Contractual Obligation: Live in Moscow and Live in Anaheim. Gillan also sang the role of Jesus on the Jesus Christ Superstar songs Everything's Alright with Yvonne Elliman, What's the Buzz / Strange Thing Mystifying with Yvonne Elliman and Murray Head, and Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say). He appears in the documentaries Deep Purple - Machine Head and Wacken, as well as the film Deep Purple: Perfect Strangers Live.
