Canadian music legend Anne Murray digs through her vault of unreleased material on this collection, which marks her 33rd studio LP and celebrates her 80th birthday. Comprising 11 previously unreleased songs and produced by Bob Rock (Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan), Here You Are spans nearly two decades of Murray’s decorated career, pulling together tunes written and recorded between 1978 and 1995. The record opens with “Heaven in My Heart,” an easygoing love song with sweeping production and poppy, soft-rock sensibilities that would sound right at home on adult contemporary radio. On “Bring All Your Heartaches to Me,” Murray delivers an especially striking vocal, dipping into her voice’s lower register and climbing back up with ease, while on “I Lost My Dog” she brings emotional gravitas to a lyric about losing a pet. Another highlight is her cover of the 1983 Bryan Adams hit “Straight From the Heart,” which she performs with sturdy conviction.
