Giorgio Tozzi
American opera singer
Giorgio Tozzi was an American opera singer. He created the role of The Doctor in the world premiere of Samuel Barber's Vanessa at the Metropolitan Opera and joined the company in 1955. Tozzi made his Italian debut at Milan's Teatro Nuovo as Rodolfo in La sonnambula. He released albums including Bellini: Norma with Monserrat Caballé and Fiorenza Cossotto, Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro, K. 492 with the Wiener Philharmoniker and Roberta Peters, and South Pacific in 1958 featuring Mitzi Gaynor. Tozzi also appeared in the film Shamus. He passed away in 2011.
