American jazz pianist and composer (1899–1974)

Duke Ellington was an American jazz pianist and composer (1899-1974). Starting in the 1920s, he made his mark as a key figure in the Harlem Renaissance and launched a multi-year stint at the Cotton Club in 1927 under his own name.


He recorded Take the A Train and released albums including Blues In Orbit and Money Jungle. Ellington also appeared in films such as Anatomy of a Murder and Cabin in the Sky. His most popular songs include In a Sentimental Mood, My Little Brown Book, and Lotus Blossom. After his death, the album Never No Lament: The Blanton-Webster Band was released in 1999, showcasing his enduring legacy.
