American gospel singer

Mandisa was an American gospel singer and contemporary Christian recording artist (1976-2024). She got her start as a solo artist after making it to the top 10 finalists on American Idol in 2006. She released her debut album True Beauty in 2007, followed by Freedom in 2009, What If We Were Real in 2011, and Overcomer in 2013, the latter of which won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Among her most popular songs are Good Morning, Stronger, and Overcomer, the empowering title track from her 2013 album.


Mandisa also co-hosted a podcast, Out of the Dark with Mandisa and Laura Williams, and wrote a memoir, Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God’s Joy, released in 2022.
