Jean Ritchie

American folk singer

Jean Ritchie was an American folk singer. She released the album A Folk Concert In Town Hall, New York with David Sear and Oscar Brand, followed by Jean Ritchie: Ballads from Her Appalachian Family Tradition and Mountain Hearth & Home. Her most popular songs include Nottamun Town, Cedar Swamp, and Jubilee. Ritchie served as a tireless archivist of the Appalachian folk tradition and appeared in the film Next of Kin.
