American singer (1948–2012)
Donna Summer was an American singer (1948-2012). She is known as the Queen of Disco. Working with producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, she released 1970s disco hits Love to Love You Baby and I Feel Love, and the 1979 album Bad Girls. That same year, she earned the Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for Last Dance and became the first female artist to score three No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single year.
In the 1980s, she released several top-selling albums, including The Wanderer, Donna Summer, and She Works Hard For the Money, which included the hit song of the same name. Summer received the Grammy Award for Best Inspirational Performance for He’s a Rebel in 1984 and the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for Carry On in 1985. She was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
