

Betty Comden
American librettist, songwriter, actress (1917-2006)
Betty Comden was an American librettist, songwriter, and actress. She co-wrote the film musical Singin' in the Rain. In the late '30s, she formed the Revuers with Adolph Green and Judy Holliday, where they began composing their own material. Comden wrote lyrics and libretto for the Broadway musical Wonderful Town, reuniting with Leonard Bernstein, which premiered in 1953. She released albums such as A Party with Betty Comden & Adolph Green, On the Twentieth Century with Madeline Kahn, and The Will Rogers Follies with Keith Carradine. Comden passed away in 2006.
