After honoring his current backing band, Saving Grace, on 2025’s namesake compendium of covers, Robert Plant rallies the English-countryside crew for a four-song encore that sees him burrow deeper into the folk section of his record collection. Like its predecessor, Saving Grace: All That Glitters… is as much a showcase for singing partner Suzi Dian as Plant himself, as she makes Gillian Welch’s “Orphan Girl” her own by delivering a stirring lead performance infused with equal doses of vulnerability and valor. And when Plant and Dian sing together, their voices magically blur into one, whether they’re using sweet harmonies to sugarcoat the sad-eyed sentiments of the traditional Appalachian farewell song “The Blackest Crow” or transforming the Emory Gordy/Patty Loveless foot-stomper “Two Coats” into a hushed and haunted hymn. Our Favorite Track: This EP may not contain any more covers of Plant’s go-to indie muses Low, but the eerily ambient, feedback-scarred rendition of Bert Jansch’s 1969 lament “Poison” would fit snugly in the Minnesota’s group’s canon of post-rock reveries.
