American jazz and popular music singer
Peggy Lee was an American recording artist; singer, songwriter, composer, and actress. She began her career in Benny Goodman's band during the early 1940s. Lee released albums Black Coffee with Peggy Lee, Things Are Swingin', and Beauty And The Beat! with George Shearing. She won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Is That All There Is. Lee released popular songs Helpless, Rock Me To Sleep, and Happy Music. She appeared in the films Pete Kelly's Blues, The Jazz Singer, and the documentary Benny Goodman: Adventures in the Kingdom of Swing. Peggy Lee passed away in 2002.
