Gene Wilder was an American actor. He played Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and appeared in films such as Young Frankenstein, The Producers, Stir Crazy, Blazing Saddles, Alice in Wonderland, Hanky Panky, and The Woman in Red.

Wilder also received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Will & Grace.

Outside of acting, he co-produced and directed films including Young Frankenstein, The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother, The World's Greatest Lover, and The Woman in Red. He also produced a memoir, Kiss Me Like a Stranger (2005) and five other books.
