Leon Fleisher

American conductor and pianist (1928–2020)

Leon Fleisher was an American conductor and pianist (1928-2020). He played with the San Francisco Symphony at age 14 and later with the New York Philharmonic, both under Pierre Monteux. Fleisher won the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Belgium in 1952. He released albums including Brahms: String Quartets & Piano Quintet with the Emerson String Quartet and Brahms: Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op. 24; Waltzes, Op. 39
