Odetta was an American singer. She released albums Sings Ballads & Blues, Odetta Sings Folk Songs, and It's a Mighty World. Her most popular songs include Gallows Tree, Hit or Miss, and This Little Light of Mine. Odetta influenced a generation of artists including Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Tracy Chapman, predating the folk boom of the 1960s and continuing to perform well after her heyday. She appeared in the documentary The Ballad of Ramblin' Jack.
