Carol Fran

African American soul blues singer, pianist and songwriter

Carol Fran was an African American soul blues singer, pianist, and songwriter. She cut her first sides for the R&B label Excello in 1957 and signed on as a featured vocalist with Guitar Slim’s group. Carol Fran continued touring with the group after Guitar Slim’s death in 1959, appearing with various substitutes. She released the albums Fran-Tastic, See There! with Clarence Hollimon, and Soul Sensation!. Her most popular songs include Emmitt Lee, Everyday Is Not the Same, and I Needs to Be Be’d With featuring Clarence Hollimon. Fran also appeared in the documentary I am the Blues.
