George Murphy was an American actor and politician. His film credits include Broadway Melody of 1940, Little Miss Broadway, Battleground, For Me and My Gal alongside Judy Garland, and This Is the Army with Ronald Reagan. Murphy served as President of the Screen Actors Guild from 1944 to 1946 and later as U.S. Senator from California from 1965 to 1971. Outside of acting, Murphy released the singles Eve of Destruction, Raglan Road, and Give Us Our Good Times Back with The Rising Sons.
