Debbie Allen is an American actress, choreographer, television director, television producer, singer, and dancer. Allen is best known for her work in the musical-drama television series Fame (1982–1987), for which she received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy and two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography. She also produced and directed A Different World. Allen has appeared in films such as Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling with Richard Pryor, Blank Check, All About You, and Next Day Air. She has also directed series Grey's Anatomy and The Game, and produced films Amistad and Christmas on the Square.
