Liam Clancy

Irish folk singer

Liam Clancy was an Irish musician. He released albums such as Favourites, Irish Troubadour and The Makem and Clancy Collection with Tommy Makem. His most popular songs include Red Is the Rose, Patriot Game, and And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda. As a teen, Clancy produced, directed, designed scenery, and acted in several local theatrical productions. He emigrated to the US with Tommy Makem in the 1950s to pursue a career in stage and television acting. He appeared in the 2005 documentary film No Direction Home: Bob Dylan. Clancy passed away in 2009.
