Harvey Fierstein is an American actor and playwright. He played Edna Turnblad in the musical Hairspray and appeared in films such as Double Platinum, Duplex, Elmo Saves Christmas, Independence Day, and Mrs. Doubtfire alongside Robin Williams. Fierstein has also provided voice acting in various projects and wrote the book for the musical Kinky Boots. He was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 2007.
