Quincy Jones
American record producer and composer
Quincy Jones was an American record producer and composer. He commenced his professional career in the early 1950s, arranged for Frank Sinatra's historic set at the Sands, and released albums including Walking In Space, Smackwater Jack, Body Heat, and The Dude.
Jones also produced Michael Jackson's Thriller and received Grammy Awards for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella for an arrangement from The Wiz. He won Record of the Year for producing Michael Jackson's Beat It. Jones also received a Grammy for Record of the Year for We Are the World, a charity single featuring multiple artists.
He released popular songs such as Soul Bossa Nova, Just Once, and One Hundred Ways. Jones appeared in the Apple Original Film Sidney, the documentary Ennio, and the documentary Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp. He passed away in 2024.
