American jazz singer (1918–1999)

Joe Williams was an American jazz singer (1918-1999). He was the lead singer of Count Basie's band in the 1950s, during which time he released the album One O'Clock Jump with Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie. Williams worked mostly as a solo artist in the 1960s, releasing the albums One More for My Baby and You Are Free. He sang with the Basie orchestra in the film Cinderfella and continued to tour until his death in 1999. One of his most popular songs, Every Day I Have the Blues, was released with Count Basie.
