

James Levine
James Levine was an American conductor and pianist (1943-2021). He served as Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera for over 40 years from 1971 to 2016 and appeared on well over 200 recordings. Levine released albums including Saint-Saëns: Symphony No. 3 Organ with Simon Preston and the Berlin Philharmonic, Mozart: The Symphonies with the Wiener Philharmoniker, and The Barber of Seville with the London Symphony Orchestra featuring Beverly Sills. He collaborated with renowned orchestras and artists on various recordings, including performances of Thaïs: Meditation with the Wiener Philharmoniker and Anne-Sophie Mutter, and Manon Lescaut: Donna non vidi mai with Luciano Pavarotti and The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Levine appeared in the films Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, and The Magic Flute.
