He released albums including At Home with Screamin' Jay Hawkins, At Last, and Somethin' Funny Goin' On. His most popular songs include I Put a Spell On You and There's Something Wrong With You. Hawkins pioneered a unique musical style blending swampy blues, R&B punch, rockabilly carousing, voodoo, magic, and loopy exotica. He was the originator of outrageous onstage theatrics, such as rising from a coffin during performances. Hawkins also appeared in films such as Mystery Train and Two Moon Junction.
