In Father, two adult siblings, brother and sister, visit their reclusive father in his rural home during winter for the first time in several years and we learn that their mother died some years back. Their father's nonconformist personality is in evident contrast to their own more sedate and conventional ones as the three spend a somewhat awkward afternoon together. In Mother, two adult sisters arrive separately to their mother's refined Dublin home. Mother, a cultured and successful writer of tasteful romance novels, has carefully prepared their annual tea party together, during which the sisters display almost opposite personalities to one another. Their three-way conversation is equally revealing and amusing. In Sister Brother, twin siblings in their 20s reunite in Paris where they lived on and off while growing up. Seeking closure after the recent accidental loss of their wild-living American parents, their closeness is immediately evident through their interactions as they move through the city in a vintage car left to them by their parents. Eventually they spend an afternoon together in the now- emptied-out Parisian apartment they partially grew up in. Surprising secrets are revealed through various family documents, photographs and other artifacts, before they depart for the storage unit where their family's belongings have been saved.
