In 2020, Simpson released Cuttin' Grass - Vol. 1 (Butcher Shoppe Sessions), featuring an all-star cast of bluegrass virtuosos. He later released Cuttin' Grass Vol. 2: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions. His most popular songs include Turtles All the Way Down, Long White Line, and I Don't Mind. Simpson has also appeared in the films Queen & Slim, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The Creator.
