Ike Turner
Ike Turner was an American musician, bandleader, songwriter, record producer, and talent scout. He was a key architect of rock ’n’ roll, playing guitar on Rocket 88, which is widely considered to be the first rock ’n’ roll record. He worked as a session man for prominent R&B and blues artists and talent scouted for various labels before forming the Ike & Tina Turner Revue with his then wife. Turner's work is compiled on such albums as Essential Rock N' Roll Blues Masters, Sexy-Seductive-Provocative with Tina Turner, and The Bad Man (Rare and unreleased Ike Turner produced recordings 1962-1965). Among his best-known tracks are It's Gonna Work Out Fine with Tina Turner and My Real Gone Rocket with Jackie Brenston. He received Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance by a Group for Proud Mary, and Best Traditional Blues Album for Risin' with the Blues. He appeared in the documentary Gimme Shelter.
