“Kicking off this 52nd edition of Compiled & Mixed with a track by a true pioneer—Slacker’s ‘Best Boyfriend,’” John Digweed tells Apple Music. “We lost Slacker almost 15 years ago but it’s great to see so many DJs keeping his music alive lately.” Digweed also uses this March 2026 mix to salute some more musicmakers who perhaps haven’t always been given the limelight they’re due. “Elsewhere, I’ve dug out Hammer and James Shinra’s track ‘Lunar Seven,’” he says. “This one was a staple in my Bunker live streams during the pandemic and still gives me goose bumps. This track actually dropped on an incredible charity album project called Care4life for frontline NHS workers and charities. Another one from those Bunker sessions is Baril, ‘One More Rush.’ Incredibly, this was [the title track of] his debut EP and this takes us back to our collective moods at that difficult time when music truly connected us all. Bringing things up to date, the emotion peaks with Bob Shilling’s ‘Everybody’—a big track for me that fits perfectly into the sound of this series. All in all, some truly beautiful emotional music this month from producers who deserve more far more attention.”
