

Carla Bley
American jazz composer, pianist, organist, and bandleader
Carla Bley was an American jazz composer, pianist, organist, and bandleader. She worked with progressive artists George Russell and Jimmy Giuffre, founded the Jazz Composers' Orchestra, and collaborated closely with pianist Paul Bley.
Bley released the albums Sextet, The Ballad of the Fallen with Charlie Haden, and Trios featuring Andy Sheppard and Steve Swallow. Her most popular songs include Lawns, One Banana, and Útviklingssang which also features Sheppard and Swallow.
She appeared in the documentary The Jazz Loft According to W. Eugene Smith.
