

Adolph Green
American lyricist and playwright (1914-2002)
Adolph Green was an American lyricist and playwright. He was a member of the Revuers, a satirical musical comedy troupe that performed at New York's Village Vanguard nightclub in the early 1940s. Green co-wrote the classic film musical Singin' in the Rain and the non-musical Broadway success Auntie Mame. He released the albums A Party with Betty Comden & Adolph Green, On the Twentieth Century with Betty Comden and Madeline Kahn, and The Will Rogers Follies with Betty Comden and Keith Carradine. Green's most popular songs include New York, New York and Candide, Act II: Make Our Garden Grow (Finale) with Leonard Bernstein and the London Symphony Orchestra. Green also appeared in such films as Simon, My Favorite Year and Lily in Love.
